Gamelands Stone Circle Cumbria

Welcome to the EDGE Guide to the stone circles of Cumbria.

Gamelands Stone Circle
Nearest Town: Kirkby Stephen.
Location: NY640082, Sheet 91.

Less than a mile from the village of Orton and not far from Junction 38 on the M6 motorway, the fallen remains of one of the larger of Cumbria's circles can be found up a farm track to Knott Hill.

Sadly all of its stones have fallen.

Consisting of 40 stones, some are now buried, and measuring 143ft/44m at its widest point this must have been an impressive sight at one time and still retains some of its former presence.
