Castlehowe Scar Stone Circle Cumbria

Castlehowe Scar
Nearest Town: Penrith.
Location: NY 587155, Sheet 91.

Castlehowe Scar is a small (no more than 7m in diameter) stone circle of local Shap granite. Close to the road that will take you to the Iron Hill circles and on to Oddendale, Castlehowe Scar is easily seen against a dry stone wall.

The Shap area is rich in prehistoric sites and make an interesting day out. Why not visit Shap Abbey and Haweswater while in the area.
