The Civic Centre, Carlisle.
The awful Civic Centre building on the corner on Rickergate dominates Hardwicke Circus -
a prime example of the worst of 1960's architecture. Voted the least favorite building in Carlisle.
While it is only right and proper to criticize the architect (Charles B Pearson and Partners)
for this monstrosity, the Council must bear the brunt of the blame for saying yes to the design.
It was completed in 1964 and has over stayed its welcome.
