Location map
Small but perfectly formed, this is an extremely picturesque corner of the Lake District locked away behind the Honister Pass south of Keswick and the magnificent Borrowdale. Buttermere has the added attribute of being less than half a mile from Crummock Water, equally beautiful but larger. Sandwiched between the two in this stunning valley is the tiny hamlet of Buttermere where many people stop for refreshment.
Walks:
You can walk all the way round the lake in about an hour enjoying the tremendous
views which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
To the south of the Derwent and Buttermere fells, in the north of the Lake District.
