
The building used by the poet William Wordsworth between March 1813 and July
1843
while Distributor of Stamps for Westmorland in Church
Street, Ambleside. This was a controversial occupation for
a man who had previously been regarded as something of a firebrand, he had
now joined the establishment and gained
£400 per annum a very large sum in those days.
